CranioSacral Therapy

What is CaranioSacral Therapy?

CranioSacral therapy is based on a number of findings about the body’s subtle physiology, made by several Osteopaths in America nearly 100 years ago (William G Sutherland and Dr John Upledger being two of the most prominent). The continued development and research of this technique means it is fast becoming one of the world’s leading natural therapies and has brought a ray of hope to patients everywhere searching for relief.

The work centres on the CranioSacral system, the area in which the brain and spinal cord function. Cerebrospinal fluid bathes and cushions the brain and spinal cord and is in constant movement and flow.

Using exceedingly light touch usually no greater than the weight of a penny, a practitioner can improve the function of the central nervous system, eliminate the negative effects of stress, strengthen resistance to disease and enhance overall health.

It can help engage the body’s muscle memory, therefore returning to the original injury or trauma (whether it is physical or emotional) in order that it can be released.

In my own simple terms, it assists the body’s own innate ability to realign and heal itself!

The ongoing work I do with my client’s means we can get results of physiological changes from old injuries or traumas. Some problems that have been deeply routed from accidents that happened as long ago as 50 years or as recently as 2-4 years ago can be released and improved.

It is quite incredible to watch someone’s facial structure change as the skull bones are eased back into the correct position, having been stuck for years since a car accident. The knock on effects are releases of pressure built up in the skull, so relief from tension to the eyes, ears and jaw.

With regular work and easy treatment systems that you can do at home, Craniosacral therapy will soon become a beneficial part of your everyday life!
